Traditional Thai Yoga Massage

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is a unique and powerful massage practice, combining slow rhythmical massage, working acupressure points and applied deep yoga stretches, whilst connecting to the breath. Each treatment is bespoke, and the massage can range from dynamic and strong, to gentle and still, depending on what each person needs.
Using the physical application of touch and applied movement, Thai Yoga Massage works to promote circulation and renewal of energy within 10 of the Sen (energy) lines contained within the physical body.
Thai Yoga Massage brings both the release of old energies, and the refresh of new energies, often enabling the receiver to find equanimity and a sense of presence and blissful relaxation.
For the physical body, Thai Yoga massage can bring increased flexibility, greater range of movement in the joints, enhance blood circulation, improve alignment of the body, and stimulate the internal organs- which helps them to function optimally.
Thai Yoga Massage is a holistic practice, which can improve wellbeing for the psychological, the emotional, and the physical aspects of a person.
The giving of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage encompasses a spiritual practice known as Metta ‘Loving Kindness’ Meditation. Thai Massage is translated as ‘The physical application of loving kindness’.Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is given using the hands, feet, elbows, and knees, and with the receiver being in a variety of positions both lying and sitting. Thai Yoga Massage is performed fully clothed on a futon on the floor.
If physical limitations restrict a floor-based massage being performed, an adapted and simplified Thai Massage can be performed on a massage table, or if needed, head/hands/feet can be massaged whilst seated in a chair.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is Traditional Thai Yoga Massage, as described above, adapted for the pregnant client.
Incorporating some gentle movement techniques using rebozo cloths to ease those bodies which need a release of tension in the hips/ pelvis/ lower back.
Pregnancy Massage is possible from 12 weeks of pregnancy to full term and can be adapted to work with most limitations during pregnancy.

Postnatal Massage

Postnatal Massage is a restorative, deep and soothing massage of the abdomen, torso and hips. This postnatal massage uses oil and supported gentle movement, to aid the release of tension and to promote recovery and realignment of the internal body after birthing.
This treatment will encourage the organs, muscles and bones to draw back to their natural pre-pregnancy positions.
Postnatal massage is an element of the full Closing The Bones practice.

Closing the Bones

Closing The Bones is an ancient practice of supporting a new mother in being gathered back to herself after the expanse of child birth. The Closing The Bones Ceremonies, and similar spiritual, nourishing practices, have been used over the world for generations, by families and communities to support new Mothers in their healing process after birthing. In several Latin American, African and Asian countries, these ceremonies and practices are still performed, but here in our Western cultures, these practices are less than common and often unknown.
The journey of pregnancy and birthing is transformational for the Mother, both physically and emotionally. It is a beautiful and wonderful, powerful journey. Closing The Bones treatment is a dedication of support and nurture to the receiver. It offers a space to be held, to process, to release, to rest, to land.
The movement of the bones, muscles and organs to accommodate the growing fetus, and enable birthing of the baby is an immense physical adaptation. This natural expansive process preceding Motherhood encompasses an emotional journey which is equally as expansive as the physical element.
With or without the possible complications that can be experienced during pregnancy and birthing, a Mother can be left feeling vulnerable, exposed, emotionally dysregulated, even traumatised post birth, as well as have physical changes to the body which require support in healing.
After the expansive physical and emotional journey into Motherhood, the body needs to heal and recover, emotions to be released, the nervous system to be soothed, the organs to replace, the bones and muscles to realign, the Mother to be supported to come back to herself.
This practice will encourage the organs to ease back into place, the muscles to recover, the bones to realign, and give space for emotions to be processed and released.
Although Closing The Bones speaks of Motherhood, this practice can also be deeply healing to support those after the loss of a baby, a miscarriage, a hysterectomy, or where fertility problems present themselves.
This practice can also be beneficial to those; male, female or otherwise, to support emotional recovery, trauma recovery, grounding and regulating of the body and mind.
Closing The Bones is a restorative treatment, where the receiver will feel safe and held to experience healing and recovery.
